Flac The Nightfly

Fagen's first album project post-Steely DanA portrait of the artist as a young man, The Nightfly is a wonderfully evocative reminiscence of Kennedy-era American life; in the liner notes, Donald Fagen (one of the two masterminds behind Steely Dan, the seminal jazz-pop band of the '70s) describes the songs as representative of the kinds of fantasies he entertained as an adolescent during the late 1950s and early '60s, and he conveys the tenor of the times with some of his most personal and least obtuse material to date. Continuing in the smooth pop-jazz mode favored on the final Steely Dan records, The Nightfly is lush and shimmering, produced with cinematic flair by Gary Katz; romanticized but never sentimental, the songs are slices of suburbanite soap opera, tales of space-age hopes (the hit 'I.G.Y.' ) and Cold War fears (the wonderful 'The New Frontier,' a memoir of fallout-shelter love) crafted with impeccable style and sophistication. But 180 gram? I don't think so posted on 3 StarsReviewer: John Eric BoothI have 2 original copies of this great album. But I wanted to jump on this opportunity to get a clean, 180 gram version of this classic.Upon receiving and unwrapping, I'm seeing a thinner, cheaper sleeve. And there is no possible way this is 180 gram vinyl. Basically feels the same as my 2 older copies.I am rating 3 stars due to this fact.SUPERB posted on 5 StarsReviewer: Andrew BallewIn spite of the fact that this is an early digitally mastered album, it sounds SUPERB on vinyl. And for the previous reviewer, I would LOVE to know how you came about this album in the 70's?:P I do kid.Incredible stellar pressing! Posted on 5 StarsI had previously owned this when it first came out in the 70's.

I recalled that there wasn't a bad cut on any songs and even then, I could tell that it was a great recording even then during the 70's.but this recording blows the original right out of the park! The vocals, the instruments the performance was so real as if I was sitting front-row- center.Very highly recommended for your collection! What a great record posted on 5 StarsReviewer: AGMI had never heard this before and bought it just on the strength of the reviews. I love Steely Dan, and this is every bit as good as the later Dan records. The quality of the vinyl is outsatnding.

Quiet and flat, this thing plays like a dream. No signs of decline posted on 5 StarsI've had the 80s record for quite some time and was always impressed. Sure, that Steely Dan sound is hard to argue with. The new version makes a great recording sound even more superb. I highly recommend this perfect record for the music, the quality of the recording, and the quality of the actual re releaseexcellent re-issue posted on 5 StarsReviewer: LeeUKThis is superb. Much easier to listen to than my 1982 original.

Bass is more defined and deeper. It's obviously well recorded in the first place, but this is the best i've heard this lp. One minor gripe though, the hard cardboard sleeve is too tight - so much so that I have left the inner lyric sheet outside of the sleeve, as it will more than likely get creased if I put it back inside the sleeve. I wish some record companies would not do this.and let people know what you think of this product ORjust.
